Novel Foods

‘New foods’ to the European consumer are defined and regulated under the Novel Foods Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. This covers new food products, ingredients and technologies.
Pre-market authorization -i.e. approval by EU authorities prior to placing products on the EU market- are required for novel foods.

EU Food Comply assists with questions, document preparation/submission/follow up, dealing with authorities as well as training and guidance of food businesses.

Our services include checks of the novel food status of products when producers are unclear about the novel food situation of their products; searching less complex, less costly, less time-consuming alternative routes for legal EU market entry of the product; support as needed with the EU novel food approval procedure. We assist our clients in various ways and also provide guidance for in-company work.
